Where We Work

Global Grassroots established its Academy for Conscious Change Rwanda in 2006 and has since expanded its core, high-engagement programs into Northern Uganda. Our participants include widows, young single mothers, genocide survivors, women living with HIV/AIDS, women with only a primary school education, orphaned girls and women subsistence farmers. We also welcome into our program men who are eager to combat the underlying issues affecting women and girls, and on average, approximately 10 percent of our participants are men. Our Young Women's Academy takes place each year in Uganda, but draws its participants from Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan and Kenya.

Since our inception, we have been able to expand and adapt our core program to serve emerging change agents across the globe. The process of Conscious Social Change remains the same, whether change agents are innovating in the villages of East Africa or in the classrooms of American universities.
